The Eastern Christian Children’s Retreat serves more than 120 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Founded in the spirit of Christian love, the residential facility opened in December 1972. The Retreat expanded into the community in 1986 with the development of group homes, where residents enjoy supervised supported living. In 1992 the Retreat advanced its philosophy of providing home-like settings for residents with the construction of on-site lodges. A volunteer Board of Directors, elected from the community, governs Eastern Christian Children’s Retreat.
The Retreat is licensed by the New Jersey Department of Human Services, and holds memberships in the American Association on Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities, the American Network of Community Options and Resources, and the New Jersey Association of Community Providers, and Council of Reformed Charities. We are also member of the Evangelical Council of Financial Accountability.
